We do not take or process insurance for the monthly membership fee, and this allows us to treat patients without the constraints that insurance places on doctors and the care they provide. This way we can focus on the doctor-patient relationship and avoid many of the hassles of a normal doctor's office. Our services are also not considered to represent insurance of any kind. However, we can work with your insurance company if needed, such as with getting weight loss meds approved or comparing the cost of imaging with insurance compared to the cash discount. Some patients have also had success submitting invoices from our office to their insurance company for reimbursement, but we don't have any control over that and cannot guarantee that will be an option.
Your doctor most likely has more than 2,000 patients they're taking care of. Be one of only a few hundred in our office so we can dedicate more time to you personally. Benefit from longer visits, shorter wait times, and after hours and weekend help if needed. Be able to talk directly to your doctor through text or phone without insurance getting in the way and dictating medical decisions for you. Finally feel heard and enjoy a much more enjoyable and beneficial experience all around.
Insurance should be used for large unexpected expenses. Use our DPC office for everything else. You should still keep insurance, but supplement that with our benefits as mentioned above for the best of both worlds.
No, our membership is not considered insurance. It is highly advised that you still keep some form of health insurance to at a minimum cover large expenses such as hospital visits, surgery, cancer care, etc. Our membership pairs very well with a high deductible plan though, where you can keep your premiums low and use our office for most everything you need.
Absolutely! We can still refer to specialists like normal and they can still accept insurance like usual. The only rare exception would be for someone involved with an HMO, though those are not very common these days.
Scott Bartkoski, MD is the only provider for the office and you will be able to see him at every visit.
We do not accept insurance, but we can see patients with insurance. Medicare is unique though, and to comply with federal law, we will have to wait a few months after opening until we can see patients that are Medicare eligible (65 years and older). If you are 65 or older, you can request to be added to our waiting list, and when we are able to see patients 65+, you'll be the first to know!
We are not qualified to give legal or tax advice, though you can check out IRS code section 213d for more info. You can also talk with your benefits manager through your employer or your accountant for more info.
A lot, including but not limited to: diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol, asthma, copd, eczema, psoriasis, thyroid disease, heart failure, cirrhosis, obesity, depression, anxiety, insomnia, bipolar disorder, sleep apnea, and a whole bunch of others.
We feel like we offer an incredible value for what the membership includes. Check out pricing here.
Yes! We offer semaglutide and tirzepatide for the right patient, and only after a thorough benefit and risk discussion and making sure there are no contraindications or other reasons not to pursue them. These compounded medications are not FDA approved, but for many patients, the benefits still far outweigh the risks.
We don't view our patients as just another "number," and instead strive for truly meaningful relationships, which is hard to find with larger online companies. Our panel size is also limited to give more attention to current patients. Many online companies ONLY prescribe GLP-1 agonists (injectables), but we can prescribe not only injection meds but also other options as well and can better individualize therapy to each patient. Many companies also recommend supplements, vitamins, or other products that they may even sell themselves which have no evidence based data to support their use and are not endorsed by the FDA or the American Board of Obesity Medicine. We also take in to account the larger clinical picture of other aspects of life that may be related to weight management, including stress, sleep, and other social factors. Our cost is also much more affordable than most other online programs. Instead of several hundreds of dollars per month, our membership is only $75-$85/mo. Perhaps most importantly though, Dr. Bartkoski is an obesity medicine expert. Most other companies either utilize nurse practitioners, for which there is no obesity board certification process, or even if physicians are utilized, they are not classified as experts by the American Board of Obesity Medicine like Dr. Bartkoski.
Minimum requirements include a BMI of >30 or >27 with weight related health problems (diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, etc). Other criteria need to be determined on a case by case basis.
Oftentimes (but not always) one of the injectable options (Wegovy, Zepbound, Saxenda) is covered, and we will do our part to help overcome any hurdles the insurance company may put up. The other FDA approved oral options (Qsymia and Contrave) have mixed coverage support, while others like phentermine, orlistat, bupropion, and topiramate are not very expensive in comparison even without insurance, especially with available coupons we can help provide. Insurance does not pay for compounded options like semaglutide or tirzepatide, but the cash price is significantly less than the cost of the name brand options. Learn more here.
