Our Beginnings
Hi everyone! I'm Scott Bartkoski, MD and thank you for exploring Holly Springs Direct Primary Care. I'm very excited to share what I think is a great opportunity for patients and their health journey. Because we truly want to develop a long term meaningful relationship with our patients, here's a bit about our beginnings to help you decide if you want to partner up!
I love taking care of patients and working with them on their health goals, but I realized I couldn't spend the time I wanted to with each patient in the traditional model of healthcare to make the kind of life changing outcomes I felt my patients deserved, which is why I founded Holly Springs Direct Primary Care, the first and only physician owned DPC office in Holly Springs. With this approach, we're able to use the tools we've gained to best maximize long term outcomes and help patients live much happier, healthier, and longer lives. We have a passion for delivering high quality, accessible, and affordable primary care and weight management services and this is by far the best way to do that. Because we are free from insurance contracts and large health organization bureaucracy, we can finally practice the way that medicine was intended, with just you (the patients) and us (the providers) doing what's best for YOU. We are able to offer extended visits for EVERY patient and we now finally have the time to spend with patients making sure all their concerns are taken care of. Instead of seeing 25 patients per day and having a patient panel size of 2,000-3,000 like in the normal primary care office, DPC allows us to see only a fraction of that, which allows for a much more personal experience for our patients.
Providers
Scott Bartkoski, MD, DABFM, DABOM, Dip-ABLM, MSCP
Dr. Bartkoski attended Missouri State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology with minor concentrations in Chemistry and Biomedical Science, graduating summa cum laude. After undergrad, he attended medical school at the University of Missouri and graduated in 2013. He stayed at Mizzou for residency training in Family and Community Medicine and was awarded the National Health Service Corp Scholarship. After getting board certified in family medicine in 2016, he worked in the traditional model of primary care for several years, before changing course to the direct primary care world.
He has served as a faculty member at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and enjoys teaching students of all types within the healthcare system. Dr. Bartkoski is humbled to have received the PRC 5 star award and is a published author in the journal American Family Physician.
In addition to being board certified in Family Medicine, he is also board certified in Lifestyle Medicine as well as Obesity Medicine, and he is a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner. Dr. Bartkoski enjoys utilizing the tools he's learned through all of this training to work with patients as a team to improve their overall health and reach goals that might not have been possible otherwise. He views his role as a physician as one that involves providing advice and working as a partner with his patients, but also believes in patient autonomy and the concept that patients are ultimately in charge of their own healthcare.
Dr. Bartkoski met his wife Allison in 2006 and they've been together ever since. They have 5 children, and together they enjoy spending time at the beach and essentially serving as a taxi service for all sorts of kid activities!
Dr. Bartkoski's panel is now full and he is currently not enrolling new patients. This allows him to hold true to his mission of being accessible and providing the best possible value to his current patients.
Stephanie Helfrich, FNP-C
I am eager to meet you and honored to be a part of your health journey. I am passionate about establishing strong relationships and providing compassionate care under a shared decision-making framework. I firmly believe in educating patients about their health to empower them, boost their confidence, and enhance their overall well-being. I eagerly anticipate our meeting!
Stephanie's nursing background encompasses cardiac, intensive care unit, and surgical specialties. She earned her degree in family medicine from Frontier Nursing University, which is situated in her home state of Kentucky. She is well-versed in addressing all primary care needs, including acute and chronic care, mental health, weight management, and women’s health.
In addition to her fulfilling work life, she is a devoted wife and mother of three. She cherishes the moments she dedicates to exercising on her Peloton or practicing yoga. She's also an animal lover and has two cats and two dogs.

Medical Assistants
Casey Smith, CMA
Casey is a certified medical assistant with eight years of experience dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality patient care. A graduate of Miller-Motte College with an Associate of Applied Science degree, Casey takes pride in supporting patients through every step of their healthcare journey and enjoys assisting in clinical procedures. Known for a strong sense of empathy and advocacy, Casey finds fulfillment in making patients feel comfortable and cared for.
Outside of work, Casey loves exploring the mountains, hiking, and spending time with her husband and four beautiful children, who are the heart of everything she does.
Ashlyn Terry, CMA
Ashlyn is a certified medical assistant and phlebotomist with a passion for building long term meaningful relationships with patients. She is especially excited to be part of a direct primary care practice, where she can connect with patients on a more personal level. She'll be the one drawing your labs!
Outside of work, Ashlyn enjoys watching football, reading, running, and spending time with her husband and daughter.

Allison Bartkoski
Allison is mostly behind the scenes with Holly Springs DPC. She’s the social media, clinic design, and hospitality person, who supports Dr. B and the rest of the team. She has her Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education from Missouri State University and taught kindergarten before staying home with the five Bartkoski children. She’s thrilled to support Dr. B and his dream of providing quality health care to our community.
